What Puerto Princesa costs in 2026
Budget about ₱6,000 (~$103) a person for three days and two nights, assuming two people sharing a double and doing the two headline tours. The shape is unusual: your room is the small number and the tours are the big one. The Underground River runs ₱2,200 (~$38), Honda Bay ₱1,800 (~$31), a city tour ₱900–1,200 and the Iwahig fireflies ₱1,300–1,600 with dinner — against a carinderia meal at about ₱100 and a tricycle hop at ₱12–25. Tours are the budget. Everything else is noise
In most Southeast Asian cities the room is the biggest line. Here it is not even close — two headline tours cost more than two nights in a good boutique hotel.
Run the canonical three-day, two-night trip for two people sharing and the arithmetic goes: ₱2,200 for the Underground River, ₱1,800 for Honda Bay, about ₱1,200 in food across three days, ₱150 for the environmental fee, ₱300 in tricycles, and ₱1,300–2,500 as your half of two nights in a decent double. That lands at roughly ₱6,000 a head, or about $103 at ₱58 to the dollar.
Drop one tour and you drop the total by a fifth. Do the city by chartered tricycle instead of a van seat and you spend ₱1,200 for the whole vehicle rather than ₱900 a head — which makes the tricycle the cheaper option for any group of two or more, and this is the single most useful arbitrage in the city.
The thing that catches people is not the headline price. It is the fee stack: entrance, environmental fee, audio guide, terminal fee and boat share are separate lines on a do-it-yourself river day and add up to ₱900–1,100 before you have moved a metre out of Sabang.

Every one of these is cash unless you booked it on a platform in advance. The ₱150 environmental fee is collected separately on both the river and Honda Bay, even by tours advertised as all-inclusive.
The ₱150 that is charged once
Every quoted price here is missing a fee, and the fee is cash. The ₱150 city environmental fee is collected separately even on tours that say all-inclusive — it is valid about a year and covers both the Underground River and Honda Bay, so keep the receipt and do not pay twice. Cheap local island tours quietly add ₱50–150 per island, ₱150 mask hire and ₱150 aqua shoes. The big platform listings mostly bake these in, which is why a ₱1,300 tour and a ₱1,880 tour often cost the same by lunchtime.
The important half of that: it is one fee, not two. Pay ₱150 on your Honda Bay day and the receipt covers the Underground River as well, for about a year. Keep it in your wallet, produce it at the second gate, and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Children aged 3–20 pay ₱120. A handful of listings quote ₱200 — the figure collected at the gate through the 2026 checks was ₱150.
There is no general city-wide tourist environmental fee in Puerto Princesa, which is worth knowing if you are comparing it with El Nido's ₱400 eco-tourism development fee or Coron's equivalent. That absence is flagged as unverified against new ordinances — the city legislates on environmental matters frequently, and a new levy would not be out of character. Ask at your hotel desk on arrival if you want certainty.

You will struggle to spend money on food
A full meal at a carinderia is about ₱100. A bowl of chaolong — the city's own dish, and its best story — is ₱60–120. You have to work quite hard to spend more than ₱500 a day.
The ceiling is a seafood blowout at ₱600–1,200 a head. KaLui does a set for two at ₱795 with mains from ₱245, and it is closed on Sundays. Badjao Seafront runs ₱500–900 and is cash only. Kinabuchs lands at ₱350–900 with beers, and its crocodile sisig is ₱350–600.
At the other end, buying fish at the Baywalk and paying someone to cook it costs ₱150–400 a kilo plus a ₱100–150 cooking fee — call it ₱300–500 all in for a table of grilled seafood. The Baywalk stalls sell grilled squid at ₱100–200, pork barbecue at ₱15 a stick and leche flan at ₱20 from about 17:00.

How much to carry, and where to draw it
Draw cash in the city, and draw more than feels reasonable. Tours, tricycles, markets and most restaurants are cash. Foreign cards are charged about ₱250 per withdrawal at nearly every bank and per-transaction limits run ₱10,000–20,000. Airport machines empty at weekends and around the 15th and 30th. Sabang is effectively an ATM desert — arrive with the whole stay in your pocket. Always decline the machine's offer to charge you in your own currency.
Practical version: draw ₱10,000–15,000 on your first afternoon downtown, in two withdrawals if your bank caps you at ₱10,000. At about ₱250 a withdrawal in foreign-card fees, two big draws beat five small ones by ₱750 — which buys seven carinderia meals.
