Puerto Princesa to Port Barton: every option
SBE Transport, ₱600, about 3 hours 30. Six departures a day — 06:00, 08:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00 — from the SBE garage on BM Road at Cabanag St, arriving the Port Barton terminal in Brgy. San Pedro. Palajuanders and Recaro run the same route and 12go lists it from ₱500. On GetYourGuide the shared seat is $15 at 3.9★ from 55 reviews, roughly ₱870, which is a ₱270 premium for booking from home. The 08:00 van is the one to take: lunch in the village, an afternoon on the sand and a sunset.
Vans, platforms and private charters, priced
One road, one spur off the highway, four ways to buy the seat. The gap between the counter and the platform is about ₱270, and it buys certainty rather than a different vehicle.
| Option | Fare | Time | Detail | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SBE Transport shared van SBE garage, BM Road at Cabanag St | ₱600 ~$10 | ~3 h 30 | 06:00, 08:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, returns mirroring. The default and the cheapest reliable seat. | WORTH IT |
| Palajuanders or Recaro same route, other operators | from ₱500 per 12go | ~3 h 30 | Useful when SBE's departure times do not suit. Fewer runs and less consistent listings. | DEPENDS |
| GetYourGuide shared transfer | $15 ~₱870 | ~3 h 30 | 3.9★ from 55 reviews — a notably better rating than the 3.3★ El Nido equivalent on the same kind of van. | DEPENDS |
| GetYourGuide shared, alternate listing | compare live | ~3 h 30 | A second shared listing on the same corridor. Worth a price check against the first before you commit. | DEPENDS |
| GetYourGuide private transfer | compare live | 3–3 h 30 | The whole vehicle, hotel to hotel, stops on request. The right call for four or more with luggage. | DEPENDS |
| Packaged day trip instead of a transfer 05:00 pickup, 21:00 return | from $34 | ~15 h door to door | Transfers both ways plus the boat and lunch, 4.5–4.6★ from 79–264 reviews. A day, not a transfer. | DEPENDS |
| Onward from Port Barton to El Nido | market rate | ~2 h | The reason to travel north rather than return. Arrange it in the village the day before. | WORTH IT |

Three and a half hours, and the last 22 km used to be the story
Port Barton sits off the North Palawan Highway on a spur into San Vicente municipality. For years the spur was the reason people arrived rattled. It is not any more.
You run north on the same highway that carries everyone to El Nido, then turn west for the final 22 km or so into the village. That last section was the historically rough part and is now paved — still narrow and twisty, but a normal road. The 3 hour 30 journey time already accounts for it.
Departure points matter more than most people expect. The SBE garage is on BM Road at Cabanag St, which is a downtown errand rather than the trek out to San Jose that the El Nido bus demands — a shared tricycle hop of ₱12–25, or ₱100–150 to charter. At the other end vans stop at the Port Barton terminal in Brgy. San Pedro and the village is walkable from there.
Take the 08:00. It lands you around 11:30, which is lunch in the village, an afternoon on the sand, a sunset, and a boat booked for the next morning. The 06:00 exists for people connecting onward and the 17:00 exists for people who like arriving in the dark.
Transfers sell. Island hopping from here does not
This is the single most useful thing to know before you start searching, and it explains why your results look thin.
The transfer inventory is real: a shared seat at $15 from 55 reviews at 3.9★, a second shared listing, and a private option. What does not exist is a Puerto-Princesa-sold Port Barton island-hopping package — there are effectively zero of them on the big platforms outside the full-day trip that includes the transfer. That is a genuine product gap in this market, not a search failure on your part.
So the shape of a sensible booking is: buy the transfer, or just turn up at the SBE counter, and book the boat once you arrive. Joiner island hopping arranged in the village is ₱1,200–1,500 per person for Turtle Spot, Twin Reef, an island stop and lunch — comfortably less than any packaged equivalent, and you choose your operator with the boats in front of you.
The exception is the packaged day trip from the city at $34, which bundles the whole thing because it has to. If you are only ever going for the day, that product is the market's answer. If you are staying the night, and you should, buying it makes no sense.
How far ahead to book the van
The practical bit
If you want the seat held
The counter fare is ₱600 and nothing beats it on price. Everything below costs more and buys the same road — book it for the certainty, not because you think you are saving anything.
Getting to Port Barton: the questions
How do I get from Puerto Princesa to Port Barton?
SBE Transport vans at ₱600, about 3 hours 30, from the SBE garage on BM Road at Cabanag St. Departures are 06:00, 08:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. Palajuanders and Recaro run the same route and 12go lists it from ₱500.
How much is the van to Port Barton?
₱600 (~$10) at the SBE counter, from ₱500 with some operators on 12go, or $15 — about ₱870 — for a GetYourGuide seat rated 3.9★ from 55 reviews. The platform premium is roughly ₱270 and buys a voucher rather than a better van.
How long does it take?
About 3 hours 30, including the final 22 km spur off the North Palawan Highway. That section used to be the rough part and is now paved, though still narrow and twisty.
What time should I leave?
The 08:00. You arrive around 11:30 for lunch in the village, an afternoon on the sand and a sunset, with a boat booked for the next morning. The 17:00 gets you there after dark for no benefit.
Can I book Port Barton island hopping from Puerto Princesa?
Essentially not. Transfers sell on the big platforms but there are effectively zero Puerto-Princesa-sold Port Barton island-hopping packages outside the full $34 day trip. Book the boat in the village for ₱1,200–1,500.
Can I continue to El Nido from Port Barton?
Yes, and it is the smart routing — about 2 hours onward, arranged in the village the day before. It turns the 5h30 Puerto Princesa to El Nido transfer into two comfortable legs with a beach night in the middle.
Is there a bus to Port Barton?
No scheduled bus service on the spur — the corridor is served by shared vans. Cherry Bus runs the highway to El Nido and does not turn off for Port Barton, so the ₱600 van is the answer.
Do the vans do hotel pickup?
SBE works terminal to terminal from the BM Road garage, which is a downtown ₱12–25 tricycle hop rather than the trek to San Jose. Private transfers do hotel-to-hotel; the free-pickup operators on this island run the El Nido route, not this one.
Cash, bags and the last van back
Draw cash in the city, and draw more than feels reasonable. Tours, tricycles, markets and most restaurants are cash. Foreign cards are charged about ₱250 per withdrawal at nearly every bank and per-transaction limits run ₱10,000–20,000. Airport machines empty at weekends and around the 15th and 30th. Sabang is effectively an ATM desert — arrive with the whole stay in your pocket. Always decline the machine's offer to charge you in your own currency.
Two specifics for this route. First, the last van back is 17:00, and there is no evening service to rescue a plan — if you are day-tripping independently rather than on the packaged tour, that timetable is the whole reason the day does not work. Second, van luggage rules here are the same as everywhere in Palawan: one backpack or medium case per person, on the roof or in the rear, and oversized bags are a negotiation you will lose.
Grab does not operate in this city, so getting to the SBE garage is a tricycle like everything else. The getting-around page has the fare table, and the ride-hailing page explains why the app on your phone shows nothing.
